Combat History of Soviet Origin Iranian SAMs

This is dedicated to the combat history of all soviet made sams in iran's inventory.

Any relevant posts and examples are welcome, LIBYA war, Serbia, Georgia war, ...

It still mind boggling how the Libyan airforce was taken out in a matter of days..What happened to all those anti-air missiles they bought from Russia?

My own calculation is that they Libyans where either poorly trained or too scared to confront NATO...Videos of them trying to shoot down F16 with ordinary AA guns was just sad...What happened to all their MANPADS??? What happened to all their mobile SAMS???

hmm... you got a good point there. the only thing that comes to mind is that maybe ghadafi thought that he could remain in power some how and that if they shot down nato war planes there would be no chance of that. am not even sure if they attempted to use there SAMS or manpads.

The Libyan never upgraded. They still use S200s.

They are more concerned with their man-made river project than weapons.

 Their medium and long range Air Defence systems had been badly neglected and not even fully operational and what little that they had has long been compromised by Nato. Nato operated outside of the range of their AAA and manpads wich included modern Sa-24s.
