but they must of had atleast 1 functioning unit to be able to reverse engineer it i think.

There was a story a while back of iran purchasing a few S-300 units from libya and croatia , it was only a rumour at the time.

but its confirmed now , iran does have them.

Indeed from studying images of S-300 and HQ-9 Launcher this Iranian Launcher seems to lack alot of machinary at the rear and underside of the vehicle and to me the launcher just doesnt look beefy enough to be able to carry such weight and be very mobile but thats just my opinion from looking at S-300 launchers. The Tubes do seem real though (or very well made mockups)..But the lack of corresponding Radar TELs does make one wonder (which are equally important)...So overall I think this is a Mockup but indeed there is great value in such mockups. I honestly don't believe Iran has the missile tech just yet to build an S-300 missile (unless the Russians directly aided them) but I believe Iran could be planning on building its own launchers to quicken deployment of the S-300 system. And even if this is just propaganda, its a great example of the kind of propaganda you want. It makes the enemy wonder and while they may doubt its validity, they will still be a bit worried. Just my thoughts..

I do not think Iranian military just put up a fake S-300 for the show. This has been the usual routine, like the claim to be able to enrich to 20% or the second generation of centrifuges.

I think Iran within 6 months in the next major military exercise will show a couple of lunches to make all the skeptics realize how deadly these fake S-300 rockets can be.

Also if this follow history is of Iran's previous announcements, Iran is already mass-producing this S-300 and acknowledges the prototypes maybe a year after the actual success of prototyping it. 

From Israel and US point of view this system is even more dangerous than S-400 since there is no way to know their capabilities. The only way to find out is to lose a few aircrafts in actual battles to find out a way to neutralized them and then Iran can modify them and the story will repeat itself.

Iran is indeed a superpower not because of its military power, but because of creativity of her engineers.

Congratulation to the Iranian team of engineers. Even if 100% of the work is done through reverse engineering, this is a major achievement.

Doesn't look like the original S-300 at all.

maybe thats why the said this is home made S-300

also some parts of radar system seems to be old and used before.
also radars does not look like to be mockup.

Iran to unveil S300-type air defence system:
Tehran: Mon, 08 Feb 2010

Iran will soon unveil a domestically-made air defence system with at least the same capability as Russia's S-300 anti-aircraft hardware, an Iranian air force commander was quoted as saying on Monday.

Last month, Russia's state arms trader declined to say whether it would go ahead with the sale of S-300 to Iran.

'In the near future, a new locally-made air defence system will be unveiled by the country's experts and scientists which is as powerful as the S-300 missile defence system, or even stronger,' Heshmatollah Kassiri told the official IRNA news agency.

The possible sale of the S-300, which could protect Iran's nuclear facilities against air strikes, is a sensitive issue in Russia's relations with the United States and Israel, which have pressed Moscow not to proceed with the deal.

Earlier, the semi-official Fars News Agency, citing senior air force official Aziz Nasirzadeh, said Iran has successfully tested a radar-evading aircraft.

The prototype of a radar-evading aircraft named Swordfish had been test-flown, he said. 'The prototype of this aircraft ... completed all radar evading characteristics considered by us,' he said. 'We are evaluating the data from the test flight and it will go into production after completing additional tests.' - Reuters

Iran to build S-300 substitute

Iran plans to manufacture long-range missiles due to the 'prolonged' delay in the delivery of Russian-made S-300 air defense systems, a top Iranian military official says.

Brigadier General Mohammad Hassan Mansourian said the initial information about the army's plans to manufacture of long-range missiles will soon be announced.

He added that the longest-range Iranian missile is presently the surface-to-air, medium-range Shahin missile, which can also be used for short-range purposes.

"Iranian industries have made considerable progress in electronic warfare and designing radars," said Brig. Gen. Mansourian.

The S-300 missile system can track targets and fire at aircraft within a range of more than 150 km (100 miles). It features high jamming immunity and is able to simultaneously engage up to 100 targets.

The Iranian military commander added that every conceivable operational demand had been taken into consideration in planning to manufacture the new long-range missiles.

I do not know the complete one, but he said: "Long-range defense system" and then video changed, but as per the news site, the said that this is Iranian made system that they will reveal the detail later.

Actualy I just noticed something..Look at structure under the radar antenna itself, Iran's is backwards compared to the Russian one. Those supports for the antenna itself are oriented opposite to the Russian one, indicating the radar antenna on the Iranian TEL points in the opposite direction of the Russian TEL (facing backwards not forwards like the Russian TEL). The door is also moved...So why would they point the radar antenna backwards?
