What's the story behind that picture if you don't mind me asking.

Well, it extremely poor quality to be sure, but I wouldn't say that necessarily means that it's been altered, though it could be. For instance, there's a picture of an F-14 floating around on the web of an IRIAF F-14 with a Soviet red star on the tail and designation number below the cockpit. The only problem is that it's a fake.


I can't see any specific indicators that this is in Iranian airspace besides the geography below, but that's not conclusive. Don't get me wrong, it could very well be over Iran and I don't see any reason why those couldn't be IRIAF F-4s. The identity of those Suk's is another matter entirely though. There's no telling whose those are.

Yes haven't the SUs crossed Iranian airspace before? I would think that's an escort if the picture is infact real.

The SU-27s in the photo were attending the Iranian show in Tehran. The show was public and I have posted better pictures
of this event that took place in early 90's to show of Russian technology to possible Iranian buyer!
