Iran to unveil maritime patrol aircraft

Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic will unveil new maritime patrol aircraft designed and manufactured by Iranian experts in the near future.

The new domestically-built maritime patrol aircraft have high flight duration enabling them to keep maritime areas under surveillance via optical and radar subsystems, he said on Monday.

Vahidi added that the modern patrol aircraft also have the capacity to load and upload military hardware and can also conduct better reconnaissance missions.

The Iranian minister said the new items may be unveiled during the 10-Day Dawn celebrations, which will begin on February 1, marking the 34th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.

Iranian Air Force Equips Reconnaissance Aircraft with Online Data Transfer System

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Air Force has equipped its reconnaissance and surveillance planes with online data and information transfer systems, a senior Iranian air force commander announced on Saturday.

"Army's patrol and reconnaissance planes enjoy the ability to send all types of information and data online," Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) for Coordination Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh told FNA.

The commander said that the online data transfer capability will enhance and speed up the power of decision-making and analysis of conditions and will remarkably increase Armed Forces' efficiency in sensitive conditions and at times of threat.

The IRIAF possesses new generations of aircraft, and continues updating their electronic warfare, radars and smart ammunition.

The Iranian Air Force tested its defense capabilities in massive air drills, dubbed as 'Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat III', in Iran's Northwestern regions.

During the exercises which started on September 6, the Iranian Air Force fighter jets practiced electronic war operations and Iran's two well-known home-made fighter jets, namely Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) and Azarakhsh (Lightening) staged successful missions and bombed the specified targets under full radio silence.
