This is the model that people thought was photoshopped, clearly it wasn't.

Are you talking about the picture of the "Azarakhsh" with the mid-mounted wing that many, including myself, think is photoshopped?

x2

That's an Azarakhsh-"F" (F-5F) while the mid-mounted wing belongs to an Azarakhsh-"E" (F-5E).

Isn't it a repainted Simorgh? It is a twin sit version.

Negative,

Simorgh is a conversion program where a F-5A is converted into a two seater (more or less a F-5B though a bit longer apparently). This is a Azarakhsh version of a F-5F (two seater counterpart of the F-5E).

Never mind I found the following answer to my question:

Two Pontiac M39A2 20 mm canons are installed, each with 280 rounds of ammo.

This 20 mm gun is a fair step back to the Defa 30 mm guns with the Mirage or the Aden 30 mm guns with the Hunter. Nevertheless, the Pontiac is making also big holes

It's a good enough gun that Northrop decided to keep them when designing the F-20 Tigershark.

Iran modernizing "Azaraksh" jet fighter

Iran is working on modernizing its "Azaraksh" jet fighter, director of Iran's Aviation Industries Organization, Manouchehr Manteghi said, speaking of Iran's latest progress with its jets and fighting aircrafts, ISNA reported.

Iran has recently announced that it has been manufacturing 2 new jets for pilot training, and those will become operational soon.

Iranian Air Force Deputy Commander for Training General Manouchehr Yazdani said Iran is in good supply of pilot training jets.

"Right now projects are underway in collaboration with the defense industry and defense ministry to supply more pilot training jets," Yazdani underscored.

"Kowsar 88 and Azarakhsh training jets are among the projects that are underway in this regard. The conceptual studies have been done and the blueprints have been fully prepared and we are witnessing very good progress in this field," he stated.

"Similar to 'Saeqeh' (Thunderbolt), these jets will come into operation soon," Yazdani stated.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the state's defense doctrine of deterrence and that it poses no threat to other countries.

So could this improved azaraksh have double tailfins? If it did, why not call it a new Saeqeh?

That image was analyzed and picked apart years ago, hence why it is so quickly dismissed here at the IMF these days. I think we all spent days and possibly weeks studying it, picking it apart before we all came to the conclusion that is was fake and rather shamelessly at that.

The only note I would make about that faked image is the idea of a mid-mounted wing on a F-5E is not a new idea and Northrop actually studied the idea during the initial design phase of the F-5G/F-20. The idea was dropped when it was decided the F-5G/F-20 would cheaper and simpler improvement over the F-5E. I used to have a thread floating around the IMF years ago about this Northrop study but I have no idea what came of it..
