Against F-16s possibly, F-22 has been designed to go against newest Russian and Chinese jets and i doubt IRIAF F-14s could go head to head against them, although there seems to be awfully lot of problems with F-22, crews getting sick from flying it etc.
F-22's apparently have a wide range of problems.
Dumbest thing I have ever read on this forum.
Just for perspective, Russia's SU-35's (4++) cannot go head-to-head against a F-22.
Why though? I'm not saying it can beat the F-22, what i said that it can hold its own. Meaning it can be effective and even dangerous to a F-22. The role of the tomcat was never dogfighting, but to engage from afar due to its superior (at the time) radar and missiles.
The F-14 has upgraded avionics, radar and missiles. Kaman mentioned the airframe fatigue, but i heard they are being overhauled. If the tomcat has a radar of 300km and missiles with around the same range, then what?
And if not F-22, it defenitly could hold its own against the f-16.
By the way, when i say hold its own i don't mean completely alone. F-14 is a major part of the integrated Iranian airdefence and definitely has an important role.
