I saw this picture a long time ago in a magazine. It was probably taken while undergoing post delivery flight tests in Iran back in the 70s.

I've been wanting to say this for a long time;

IRIAF F-14's are no longer the same. They have better radars on them, better missiles and i wonder if the jets have been tuned up. I think these planes could hold their own against F-22's and F-16's.

Against F-16s possibly, F-22 has been designed to go against newest Russian and Chinese jets and i doubt IRIAF F-14s could go head to head against them, although there seems to be awfully lot of problems with F-22, crews getting sick from flying it etc.

The problem with these aircraft is the airframe. Even if the avionics and the armament is upgraded (I have no clue about the tomcat's upgrade) the airframe fatigue is something that cannot be left aside. By the way, I have heard that the F-22 takes care of great care of its pilots...."A love on which pilots choke"....

Dumbest thing I have ever read on this forum.

Just for perspective, Russia's SU-35's (4++) cannot go head-to-head against a F-22.

Yes. If they dont fly (cause no pilot will fly them) no action is possible...

F-22's apparently have a wide range of problems.

Why though? I'm not saying it can beat the F-22, what i said that it can hold its own. Meaning it can be effective and even dangerous to a F-22. The role of the tomcat was never dogfighting, but to engage from afar due to its superior (at the time) radar and missiles.

The F-14 has upgraded avionics, radar and missiles. Kaman mentioned the airframe fatigue, but i heard they are being overhauled. If the tomcat has a radar of 300km and missiles with around the same range, then what?

And if not F-22, it defenitly could hold its own against the f-16.

By the way, when i say hold its own i don't mean completely alone. F-14 is a major part of the integrated Iranian airdefence and definitely has an important role.

F-22, F-35, PAK FA, J-20 it doesn't matter what 5th gen, they will all dominate.

F-22's apparently have a wide range of problems.

I am not talking about F-22 alone, I am talking about any 5th gen fighter

The F-22 is a dogfighter that could pick off Iran's F-14's before they even knew what happened.

The F-14 has upgraded avionics, radar and missiles. Kaman mentioned the airframe fatigue, but i heard they are being overhauled. If the tomcat has a radar of 300km and missiles with around the same range, then what?

Tomcats radar cannot even spot a F-22. Also where did you get that Iran has a 300KM A2A missile? The longest BVR missile Iran cliams to have is 50-70KM. Also I have yet to see an Iranian fighter with updated avionics such as a integrated HUD display. They all retain their 1970's era cockpits with some minor modifications

And if not F-22, it defenitly could hold its own against the f-16.

That is possible

By the way, when i say hold its own i don't mean completely alone. F-14 is a major part of the integrated Iranian airdefence and definitely has an important role.

These two can qualify for the best IRIAF F-14 photos.

Enjoy them,

I just saw this video on the Youtube channel from Fulcrum Pilot.

IRIAF F-14 Dogfight Over the Persian Gulf During Iran-Iran War (The video's owner prevents external embedding)

There I found a scene inside an iranian F 14 cockpit.

The Cockpit looks very new and the panel different compared to the standard F14 A cockpit.

What do you think?

Is it a simulator?

Is it an fresh overhauled F14?

Or is it some kind of moke up?

I can watch it without problems.

I think it is the F14 simulator.

Compare my pics with the pics in this thread:
