lulldapull,

You do know you were provocative. You also know the rules.

We cannot spend hours online to try to mediate quarrels between members who ultimately highjack the threads and disturb others.

Is this common sense too difficult to grasp?

@lulldapull

What about that?

http://www.lockheedmartin.com/how/stories/cormorant.html

Does it making it worth for Iran to invest $ 75 billions (even more) in a complete R&D/productionline inkl. building some 200 piece of an old 3,5 gen Mirage F1 airplane?

Interesting statement. So asymmetronics also think that Ghadir-sub is equipped with C801/YJ8 Q?

And yes, Sofreh Mahi is the direction where all ride along in the next years.

Yes, Ghadir's tubes seems to be the right diameter but, as has been pointed out in IMF, there's not much room left for spare missiles. You could temporarily attach them to the outside of the hull (and even launch them from there) but it would compromise the sub's stealth profile and reduce its chance of escaping after an attack.

Besides, the sub will have problems acquiring and illuminating mobile, "over the horizon" targets with a long rang missile (whereas a shorter range missile would again, make escaping more difficult). Here's where a (stealth, VTOL) drone would come in handy!
Stationary, predesignated targets wouldn't be a problem of course. The sub would in fact act as a -hopefully reusable- range extender for the missile.

Wow, a "new" F-1 in service. Notice what base it's assigned to - TAB-10 in Chahbahar; they must be beefing up the F-4Ds currently assigned there. Maybe this is an attempt to project more capability over the Gulf of Oman, possibly with anti-shipping capability.

Hi to all,

I read in some int'l mags about a IRIAF Mirage 1B that was painted in the Ghost/Grey scheme but was subsequently repainted back in the Desert scheme, did anyone here have a pic of that Mirage in the Ghost/Grey scheme?

Thank you in advance.

nice catch with the base # on the tail...    so i looked at Chahbahar and noticed a Dec 2011 image on google earth...

a lot more images of F-4s than previous images...

also noticed a P-3 ... gr8 shot of it on the parking apron...    this is in line with the newest AO for IRN 1st Naval District...
IRGCN has Gulf and IRIN is projection force and has Gulf of Oman and beyond...
getting off subject...
both aircraft F-4 and F1 are anti-ship capable...  nice catch and nice image of F1  ...my two bits, thx.
Respectfully,
Simple Bubba

Peace to You and Yours...

A few years ago Dassault proposed Iran with more F-1s but the Iranian air force showed no interest.
It's a relatively good aircraft which can hold up its own against F-16s in hands of experimented pilots.
I like the look of this aircraft.

I can only imagine the F4D's at Chahbahar  and the F4E's at Bushehr  are 1 time anti-ship platforms aimed at USN assets in PG & GO.   A USN carrier operating off Bahrain, for example, would have less than 10 mins to react to a Phantom out of Bushehr. It would definately get a shot off.

In P.G anything biggier than patrol boat is siting duck and woud not survive less than 5 min.,if you think they send one f/4 and wait to see what woud happen you dont understan nothing, range of their air lunched ASM  is greater than distance from Iran to Arab country on other side Gulf and that  is  enaghf for safe atack and before any war in P.G USNAVY will move their ships to open sea because otherwise they will be in fire range of every artilery greater than 100 mm,AScM,ASBM...etc.

True in the Straits not so for rest of Gulf. Given enough warning the USN can defeat any available Iranian ASM. The key to a sucessful hit is to minimize reaction time. I'm speculating that an F4 flying at mach 2 may be able to launch a point blank ASM shot prior to being destroyed.  I don't believe the Qader or the Noor are balistic and would provide too much reaction time if launched from Iranian coast. They would take at least 10 mins to transit the gulf.

Or they may both be used in attempts to overwhelm USN countermeasures with multiple targets.

Why else would the Phantom's be deployed on the PG?  They certainly aren't capable of air superiority missions?
