How many Su-24s, Su-25s and Mig 29s does the IRIAF have?

They were trying to save the plane. Had they ejected as soon as they found the problem, the plane would have been completely destroyed. By leaving it untill after they land, they can at least salvage some of the plane for spare parts. A very brave thing IMO. Pilots from other countries eject as soon as they see a problem.

That crash was pilot error, he came in way too hard, noselanding gear broke and hit the ground hard.

I thought that there was a problem with the jet which is why he is landing at such a speed. Was this in the news?

I think one engine had problems and was running on high throttle. That is why it was landing at high speed which led to subsequence bounce off the runway!

Is there anyway to shut-off the engine if it gets stuck in high throttle and let it glide down, or even shut it down a few moments before thouch down?

I was thinking maybe they had a student pilot at the controls, but a stock throttle is definately a possibility.

The pilot couldn't apparently reduce throttle, it was jammed!

If it was stuck in full throttle then why was he trying to land it. How was he going to slow it down even if he did manage to land it.

IRGC,

I did not claim it was on full throttle. I said "high throttle". By that I meant there was more than needed gas flowing into the engine and the pilot could not reduce the flow. The reason the pilot attempted to land the plane is very simple, that is what the IRIAF pilots have always done, try to save their birds in the best of their abilities. For thirty years IRIAF faced shortage of aircrafts, loosing one is too many!

Catsoo I understand

I think the best option would have been to fly it around until the plane ran out of fuel and then glide it onto the run way. This would have been the best way to save the plane, instead of trying to land it at a high speed. The pilot is crazy lol.

It is not as simple as that and we don't even know what the actual problem was. The pilot was very brave and tried to save as much of the bird as he could.

I was reading that the Su-24's delivered from Russia came with KH-29's. Does anyone have pictures of these equipped on the fencers?

Catsoo,

There are Laser Guided versions of Mavericks as well...Technically there are TV, Thermal, Laser  and combinations of these guidance systems available for Mavericks as its also true for the Kh-29..the TV guided version of the Maverick is just the most well known variant.
