Laki is a Kurdish sub-dialect We(Northern Lurs) call Luristan and Ilam as Greater Lakistan

Then why is the poet talking about kurds and Kurdistan referring to himself :S, can you understand laki?

Laks also live in the eastern most part of Kurdistan province

Man I'm confused, so there are laks and lurs? are they different? the impression I'm getting here is that laks consider themselves to be kurds and lurs don't?

P.S: I read a book (dated 1960's) that at around the 1900's lurs were also considered to be kurds but later that changed.

Laks are Northern most Lurs they are ethnically a sub group of Kurds, Lur means Highlander it is an ancient word given to all people of the Zagros(Kurds,Laks, bakhtiaris) this word became an ethnic term later on to describe both Bakhtiaris and Laks by other groups, the sassanians used the term Kurd to describe all nomadic people(modern day Kurds,Laks,Bakhtiaris) so it explains the confusion of Lurs because they were given diffrent names at diffrent times Modern day people of Lurestan and Ilam either say they are Lur,Lak or and Ethnic Kurd depending on who you speak too

Ok that makes sense, I suppose the baloch people fall in the same basket as us, they are very close to kurds and hence lurs, and they are also decendants of the medes.

I honestly was confused about it at first but when I went too Lurestan two summer ago and spoke to the famous Dr Hamid Izadpanah who wrote a couple of books in Laki He knew all about the modern and ancient people of the Zagros He gave really good and reliable information

The difference between a laki and sorani is most likely the same difference between a sorani and kurmanji Kurd..
