FFI to distribute Iranian animation "Rostam and Sohrab" worldwide

Los Angeles-based distributor Fantastic Films International (FFI) has received the franchise to distribute the Iranian animation "Battle of the Kings: Rostam and Sohrab" in about 100 countries.

The animation will probably be premiered in Russian theaters first and will continue in other countries including Brazil, China, India, Japan, France, Italy, Germany and a lot more, producer Dariush Dalvand told the Persian service of Fars News Agency on Friday.

The deal was made at the 2012 Cannes Film Market in May with FFI, which is a company involved in the financing, production and worldwide sales of feature films and animations, Dalvand said.

Produced in both Persian and English languages, the animation has been produced with the collaboration of a team of 100 members within five and a half years, Dalvand added.

The storyline is driven from Ferdowsi's masterpiece, Shahnameh, telling the heartrending story, in which Rustam kills Sohrab without knowing that he is his son.

Dalvand also said that he prefers that the animation will premiere in Iranian theaters beginning with the Id al-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of the month of Ramadan in August.

The 93-minute animation is a joint production of Iran's Experimental and Documentary Film Center (EDFC) and the Arya Animation Studio run by Dalvand brothers.

این کارگردان درباره شاخصه بارز انیمیشن نامبرده در مقایسه با دو تولید قبلی خود "مروارید سرخ" و "شیرهای آلواتان"، اظهار کرد: در انیمیشن "مرزبان نامه" از دریچه فانتزی به همه اتفاقات نگاه کردیم و پایه اصلی کار بر خلاقیت و فانتزی گذاشته شده است. در حالی که آثار قبلی من چنین فضایی نداشت.

مهدی متین زاده، منا سلطانی فر و ساناز عربی انیماتورهای "مرزبان نامه هستند و تدوین و کامپوزیت را خلیل گرجی انجام می‌دهد.

Iranian center makes animation based on “The Thousand and One Nights”

Tehran Times: Iran’s Saba Animation Center has made an 85-minute animation based on one of the stories of “The Thousand and One Nights”.
Entitled “The Gem of the Seven Seas”, the animation was directed by Abbas Mohebbi.
“The soundtrack of the film is now being recorded in an equipped studio in the Netherlands,” Mohebbi told the Persian service of ISNA.
He also said that a group of professional artists and experts has made significant contributions to the animation in various stages of production.
The animation, which is about the struggle between good and evil, targets young adults.
The story is about a beautiful island made of emeralds, which is ruled by a stupid dictator. The ruler had been put under the spell of an evil force years ago and a young boy embarks upon a voyage to fetch ‘the gem of the seven seas’ to break the spell.
“The Thousand and One Nights” is a collection of oriental stories of uncertain date and authorship whose tales of Aladdin, Ali Baba, and Sindbad the Sailor have almost become part of Western folklore.

«ژنرال‌های خاموش» که با نام موقت «قاف نشینان» از وزارت فرهنگ و ارشاد پروانه ساخت گرفته، پروژه‌ای 32 قسمتی است که در هر قسمت از آن یکی از عملیات‌های دفاع مقدس مورد توجه قرار می‌گیرد و علاوه بر معرفی عملیات مورد نظر، به زندگی فرماندهان و چهره‌های مؤثر در آن عملیات اعم از ارتشی، بسیجی، سپاهی، نیروهای مردمی و گمنام می‌پردازد که ابتکار عمل آنها باعث موفقیت عملیات شده به عنوان قهرمان ملی شناخته می‌شوند.

تیمی 50 نفره به کارگردانی «سام مهدویان» ساخت این اثر را به عهده دارند. تعدادی از عوامل این پروژه نیز ایرانیان خلاق و توانای مقیم خارج از کشور هستند که با کمپانی‌های بزرگ تولید انیمیشن همکاری می‌کنند و با حضور در این پروژه تجارب خود را به گروه سازنده منتقل خواهند کرد.

«صدیقه فیروزی» تهیه‌کننده این مجموعه انیمیشن در گفت‌وگو با خبرنگار فارس درباره این اثر گفت: در سال‌های گذشته هنرمندان مختلفی در قالب نمایش، فیلم، سریال و... به سراغ دفاع مقدس و مقاطع مختلف آن رفته‌اند، اما به دلیل تجهیزات اندک سینما و تلویزیون امکان پرداختن به تمامی ابعاد این واقعه عظیم وجود نداشته، ولی با پیشرفت‌های صورت گرفته در صنعت تولید انیمیشن و 3D می‌توان وقایع و ‌مقاطع مختلفی از دفاع مقدس، شخصیت‌های حاضر در آن، عملیات‌های سخت و پیچیده و ... را عیناً بازسازی کرد و به تصویر کشید.

وی ادامه داد: تمامی این فرایند نیز برخلاف فیلم سینمایی در مکانی محدود رخ می‌دهد و پشتوانه اجرایی کردن آن نه اسلحه و مهمات واقعی و نه بازیگران گران‌قیمت است، بلکه تیمی جوان که با کمک تکنولوژی‌های فنی و رایانه‌ای تمامی این پروسه را بازسازی و به تصویر می‌کشند.

فیروزی درباره محتوای این اثر نیز گفت: برای ارتباط بیشتر با مخاطب، داستان در یک بستر عاشقانه و حماسی روایت می‌شود.

بنابراین گزارش پروژه «ژنرال‌های خاموش» با تکنیک 3D هم اکنون در مرحله پیش تولید است. این پروژه به کارگردانی سام مهدویان و بر اساس فیلمنامه‌هایی از «مصطفی رکابی» ساخته می‌شود. «مرتضی حبیب مقدم» نیز به عنوان مدیرپروژه حضور دارد و به زودی عوامل دیگر آن معرفی خواهند شد.

Directed by Bahram Azimi , "Tehran 2121", is about the past and present of a 160-year-old man, was one of five movies screened at Iranian theaters during the holidays of Noruz, the Iranian New Year celebration, which began on March 21.

The animated film has won second place in the box office battle with over 120 billion rials (over $350,000). Masud Dehnamaki's drama "Scandal" is in first place with 170 billion rials ($500,000).

The story of "Tehran 2121" takes place in the year 2121 (Iranian year 1500), when robots live along with people who live for over 160 years due to progress in medical science.

Using the rotoscoping technique, Azimi made the animation with an all-star cast.

(Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film movement, frame by frame, for use in animated films.)
