Iranian people's opinion about Armenians?

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I am an ethnic Armenian, but have unlimited respect for the Iranian people, culture, and government. Since the creation of our republic twenty years ago, Iran has expressed brotherly relations with Armenia :D.

I understand that part of such good ties are a result of animosity between Iran and Azerbaijan governments, but what do regular Iranians think?

If I had to guess, Iranian popular opinion is probably overwhelmingly with Azerbaijanis, as they are Shia Moslem.

Thoughts?

Iranians like both Armenians and Azeris to us they are both Iranian ...their religious beliefs is not relevant since many of our Baluch citizens are Sunni and we care about them the same as some one from Tehran

Generally Iranians really like Armenians. Where i used to live in Tehran, there was an Armenian school where the entire curriculum was in Armenian. There is a big and prosperous Armenian-Iranian community in Tehran. They are allowed to make wine and hard liqour for themselves if they want since they are not Muslims.

Armenians have a football team in Tehran and a sport complex called etka, or eteka I don't remember exactly the name.

Anyway, Iranians and Armenians share a very deep bond and the same goes for Azerbaijan as well but right now our relations with Armenia is much much better than with the puppet regime in Israelbaijan.

Drastamat:

I don't believe that Religion would play a great role in this case. Relations Between Old Persia, and then Iran have always been relatively good despite several wars. Interestingly at one point in the history, both Azeri and Armenians shared the same religion. Armenians are very much respected in Iran. Now speaking of countries, Armenia (Armanestan) and "Alievestan" (Former Azerbaijan sold to US banksters), I would say without a single second of hesitation...."Hang the sellouts high"...

The Iranian-Armanian bonds are far more cultural and historical than anything else. Both people share much in culture, just attend an Armenian party and see how homy it feels. I met an musician at a restaurant as if we were from the same country, we communicated as if we knew each other for years.

The bonds between Iran and Armenia has been much strengthened since Armenian independence from USSR opening the doors for a much closer relationship which was not possible under the USSR. The Azari tension could only have helped Iranian-Armenian military cooperation. Armenia is a landlocked country and she equally benefits from relations with Iran, in fact Iran today is very important to Armenia as a new country in all aspects of life from commerce to cultural exchanges. In short, there is a mutual dependency between the two peoples who are really one but divided by a border.

May I ask you where did you live?
Because I used to live somewhere in Tehran that there was an Armenian school there too and many Armenians live there.

Near meydoon madar (meydoon mohseni), south of it i think is where the school was . It doesn't have a high Armenian population like elsewhere in Tehran, but it did have an Armenian school.

So the school you indicated is different than the school I talked about it.
In Tehran there is a small street with the name of "10 Metri Aramaneh" (means "Armenian street"). There is an Armenian school and if i remember properly an Armenian church there too . Many Armenians live there. Many Armenians live in "Majidieh" too.

Lord pastry shop

Oh My!!!!!  I been going there since I was born it seems. Now, I am there every time I visit Iran. They offer the best espresso coffee and not to mention the A1 pastry.

On the other note, there are minority Armenian communities all over Tehran, Baghe Shah Armenian school is where my brother studied even though my family is Muslim. I had many Armenian classmates at Andisheh in Abbas Abad and there is a huge community at Tehrane-Nu (Damavand currently) with a famous school called Ararat. They were a tough challenge every time we went to basketball finals. Very talented players.

I was raised in this area and almost lived on Piroshkis and Nordic pastries. There was a Danish pastry right down the street and it is still there wearing the same sign as back then. I used to go to the Shahid Beheshti primary School right across the street, nothing has changed. Many of my relatives were Andisheh fellows.
Indeed Lord's coffee is tasty and they are always clean and well dressed. Almost nothing has changed since my childhood. I have a great affection for this part of Tehran....
By the way their "Shirini-panjerei" is awesome....

the Iranian-Armenian friendship is very deep in many ways, political, cultural, historical and serves as a block to pan-Turanism and Turkic expansion in the region.

What I have found about Armenians abroad and I have met many there seems to be animosity amongst them
Russian Armenians seams to dislike Iranian Armenians , Iraqi and lebanese Armenians . Iranian-Armenians have their store
Signs in Farsi . I know many who usually refer Armenians from Armenia as beneath themselves . I myself have always had a good relationships with Armenians.

I won't lie, there are some unfortunate divisions among Armenians, but that's what happens when you have a large diaspora that has grown apart from each other in different countries over a long period of time. But in the end, we are still all Armenian.

LOL yes this is absolutely true. There is a saying that says "Every true Armenian has another Armenian that they truly despise." But divisions are minor and materialistic; when it comes to Hye Tahd (Armenian cause), everyone is united.

I have a lot of respect for Iran, and I am learning Farsi in college for the very reason. I'm glad that religious divides do not hinder our peoples' fraternity.

One of Iran's most beloved singers, Viguen Derderian, was of Armenian decent. His brother Karo was a writer and poet and also very famous.

The mean Iranian doesn't know a thing about Armenia.

The mean Iranian Azeri knows even less about the disputes between the Republic Azerbaijan and Armenia.
