Brother, history has a habit of repeating itself.People just don't wake up today and they commit genocides. This is always preluded by ideas and philosophies which eventually leads to genocide. When you look at human history, every calamity is brought about by a series of events that eventually culminate into some tragedy. This process repeats itself over and over again. For you to say history is irrellevant makes me even more worried. You shutting the very door you suppose to take lessons from
Brother, I fully accept that people who were sure they had some beneficial idea (NAZIs) at its core, ended up executing it in a terrible way that must never be repeated.
At the same time, does that mean that if there was some good idea to begin with, that the idea must be buried forever and never reconsidered or taken advantage of?
Can't we just try and be more responsible and improve on past mistakes rather than shutting the door on passive genetic engineering altogether (to be sure, I am advocating something very alien, to what the NAZIs did), until some other civilization learns to take advantage of it?
