Israeli vice PM meets UN Ban on Iran
Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday morning in Ban's office.
And though Ban's spokesman says there's no transcript of the meeting Shalom revealed to the press some of what the SG had to say.
Now Shalom's account of what was said may or may not be entirely accurate. If it is it represents a further shift away from the impartial role the Secretary-General is mandated to play. Shalom's account Ban's point of view paled in comparison however to the wild speculation he offered next.
Now the Islamic Republic of Iran has not in fact announced any such intentions at all. Current calls for regime change in the Middle East are actually coming from Israel and the US for new leadership in Syria. US-led forces recently completed such a regime change in Libya with the UN Security Council's blessing and the US just pulled out of another regime change mission the ten year War on Iraq.
As for the continued rumors of nuclear weapons Iran has tried repeatedly to cut through the hysteria.
On Tuesday Shalom also spoke about illegal killings blaming Iran for attacks on Israeli diplomats in Thailand India and elsewhere despite a lack of evidence. Press TV asked Shalom for his reaction to the illegal killings of Iranian nuclear scientists and reports that Mossad and Mujahadeen elements are responsible. The Deputy Prime Minister turned on his heel and walked away.
