Still a deficit of 15 Billion USD between Iranian Imports & non-oil exports.

I wonder what all Iran is importing for 53 Billion USD. It is a huge amount of imports considering the fact that Iran is trying to make each and every thing at home.

Can you read Persian?
Here you can find more details about Iran imports
http://www.tccim.ir/ImpExpStats.aspx?slcImpExp=Import&slcCountry=&sYear=1390&mode=doit

But according to this report major imported goods have been iron and steel ingots, rice and "corn as animal food".
During recent years most of imported goods of Iran has been capital and intermediate goods.

I can read Farsi .... but could not "understand". But thanks for the link and making it clear.

I really tried my best to find the exact figures of Iranian imports in English, but failed.

Capital and Intermediate goods are  good, but I feared only this that Iranian Markets are full of Chinese goods and Iranians are importing that stuff too which they could easily make locally.

I wish these sanctions push Iran into positive direction.

Yes Chinese goods are a problem. Its solution is production with lower prices. Another solution is forcing Iran's production and exports toward production and export of high-level technologies .

More than often when someone is making such a comment here he is also buying chinese stuff because it is cheaper. So barring some imported products to make them locally will often lead to inflation. When you find a niche where you have already the "know how" and an edge, the simplest solution is to export more to the country who is selling you more. If the Chinese were able to sell more of their cheap stuff, they got paid with rials and need to spend it on something. At least Iran hasn't a budget deficit like the US and doesn't sell its debt/treasury bonds to recycle the money back.
