Even I have heard many times that we produce Steyr locally.

No need to produce Steyr locally because Iran made the Iranian W03 developed with China...but maybe the make some new sniper gun from both weapons..

Its very hard to find some pictures about this Snipergun..

But china have another 12.7 sniper gun the M99 it looks a better version. So i think the first snipergun is a try out..and the M99 a knock off this with changes and improvements..

When it comes to buying weapons. Which country deal IRI with?
Do they also have permission to create weapons themselves?
And tho they create there own weapons as well?

Ayyash,

Are you sure that Styre is not manufactured n Iran? I clearly recall many times reading
that it was reverse engineered and is being manufactured in Iran.

catsoo

Turns out you were right and i was wrong, the "Sayyad-2" is differentiated from the Steyr HS .50 by a revolver-type grip compared to the regular pistol grip of the HS .50.

Hi.
Strange that Iran soldiers seems to have so many different rifles. Most armies tend to standardize their rifles for logistical reasons (similar spares, caliber of bullets, etc). Although their special forces uses specialized weapons (sniper rifles, infiltration, etc), the bulk of the armed forces uses the same rifles (for example, US marines, navy, army, air force all uses the same rifle, the shorter version of the M16).

I saw pictures of military parades with soldier marching and all, and they all have different rifles. I saw AK-47s and what I believe to be a version of heckler & Koch at the very least.

Personally, I love the M16. Even better with the M203 grenade launcher, though I must admit it's rather heavy with the grenades and all. But the feeling you get when you hold it in your arms.....

Anyway, thanks for a great website. Very informative.

G3 or AK-47, both pretty common.

They all look to be KL-7's, except they've got different funiture and tactical gear like ACOG's forward grips and of all things, a bipod

I don't know if you saw it, but awhile back, i found some documents about the Iranian military posted on wikileaks and in addition to having a ridiculous drawing of a tank, it had a collapsible stock from an M-4 'photo shopped onto the picture of a G-3.

I guess it was an actual project :D

I was just looking for it, unfortunately i couldn't find it

It's definitely not the standard S.5.56 stock but it's also not the same exact stock as on the G3.
