Very interesting LCP, I've never seen that sort before. It appears to be designed to operate in the coastal/marshy flat-water characteristic of the north Persian Gulf.

I want to say it's an Uzi, but i'm pretty sure it's not (bolt handle, ejection port, and forward hand-guard are the key differences I'm looking at)

The submachinegun in the first doesn't look like an Uzi to me..Looks more like an Uzi derivative but definitely not Uzi...The others are the usual mp5, Uzi and Ak

Looks like it's more suitable for naval commandos..Must be very reliable than Uzi, I guess...

Good find, in wiki it says it can be used straight out of water and was designed to be used by scuba divers. Only around a 1000 were made and Syria is an operator but I can't find anything of it being in use in Iran.

Here's a summary: Takavar's (تکاور) root means animals that can carry and run (horses, camels, etc) and used by Ferdowsi, Nezami, etc in their poetry as either 'fast or noble steed'. Today, ostensibly, it alludes to 'fast runner' although the entry isn't super clear to me because it still does break it up into 'tak' + 'avar'. Digging further, I don't see anywhere 'tak=attack' per se. 'tak' does mean, however, fast, active, intense, etc. Fascinating. (recall words like 'takapoo')

As for 'paa-tak' (پاتک), the search returns 'a new term' without further details. There is no entry at all for 'paad-tak' (which means little at this point).

So now we have developed a better hypothesis for what 'takavar' means: one who brings speed and endurance.

However, I don't believe this is the end of the story especially with 'paa-tak's' roots currently unresolved.

The exact word for attack is "tag" not "tak". It has roots in ancient and middle Persian languages "taga" and "tag". The morphing of "g" to "k" could have happened any time during these 1400 years.

these pictures are pics of the Saberin Special unit IRGC commandos, they are equivalent in equipment/training/faith to Hezb soldiers in Lebanon.

The sad thing about the photos maydayfire has posted is that all of these soldiers (except those whose faces ave been blurred) have been killed by PJAK.
