Iranian Police Armor

Hello there friends (aghaya bah khanoomah).

I have been having a lot of trouble finding information about Iranian body armor, specifically their riot gear. I used to import/export for a Peruvian company who would provide these products to police forces worldwide, usually made in China.

A former colleague of mine had asked if I knew of who make's Iran's anti-riot armor and shields, and I felt I would come to the experts on this forum with this question.

Kheyli Mahmnoom.

Sorry I didn't see this when you first posted it.

Here is some information straight from Iran:

Here is a short piece I wrote about body armor in Iran this past winter. It's not great by any stretch of the imagination, but it's better then nothing. It focuses more on military armor rather then counter-riot armor or the stuff used by patrolmen in urban areas.

So, to answer your question, the majority of it appears to be manufactured within Iran itself. However they do import some, probably a great deal from China just judging from historical patterns. They also have used the UN's drug interdiction program to acquire armor from Britain (in addition to other equipment). http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2005-03/26/content_428338.htm

Here are some of the better pictures I've found that illustrate the type of armor used by Iran.

Thanks man.

However, none of the plating on the riot armor seems to match up with any of the Chinese armor I have worked with.

In one of the photos, the background shows a sight saying "Taftan". Would that be a manufacturer?

Cheers

Is anyone familiar with this company? I have not been able to find any information on them.
