Iran builds nano composite nozzles for solid fuel engines

Faculty member of Aerospace research institue of space orgnization ,Dr Reza KalantariNejad announced , experts of this research institue Have succeeded to build nano composite nozzles (Is he talking about jet vanes of nozzles?) for solid fuel engine which is resistant against high thermal and mechanical loads for space missions.

محققان پژوهشگاه هوافضا سازمان فضايي ايران براي نخستين بار در كشور با استفاده از نانوكامپوزيت‌ها موفق به ساخت نازل موتور سوخت جامد مقاوم در مقابل بارهاي حرارتي و مكانيكي براي انجام ماموريت‌هاي فضايي شدند.

دكتر رضا كلانتري‌نژاد، عضو هيات علمي پژوهشكده‌ مهندسي پژوهشگاه هوافضا در گفت‌وگو با خبرنگار فناوري خبرگزاري دانشجويان ايران (ايسنا)، اظهار كرد: در سال‌هاي اخير استفاده از نانو كامپوزيت‌هاي پايه پليمري رو به افزايش است؛ اما اين روند افزايشي در صنعت به دليل بعضي از خواص حرارتي و مكانيكي نامناسب پليمرها محدود شده است. در صورتي كه اين زمينه‌هاي پليمري با اجزاء سراميكي و با ابعاد مختلف تقويت شوند مجموعه‌ جذابي از خواص چون هدايت حرارتي مناسب، پايداري ابعادي بالاتر، پايداري بيشتر ماده در مقابل تخريب حرارتي و استحكام بالاتر حاصل مي‌شود.

وي با بيان اين كه در صنايع هوافضا و فناوري پرتابه‌ها سامانه‌هاي مقاوم در برابر شارهاي حرارتي بالا از اهميت به سزايي برخوردار هستند، تصريح كرد: در سالهاي اخير نانوكامپوزيت‌هاي فدا شونده در طراحي و ساخت عايق‌هاي حرارتي با كارايي بالا معرفي و مورد مطالعه قرار گرفته‌اند. هدف از تحقيقات ما هم، طراحي و ساخت نانو كامپوزيت‌هاي فداشونده بر پايه‌ي رزين فنليك و نانو ذرات آلومينا براي كاربرد در نازل موشك‌هاي سوخت جامد بوده است.

كلانتري نژاد خاطرنشان كرد: در اين راستا، پس از سنتز و انجام عمليات حرارتي بر روي نانوذرات آلومينا و تهيه و پخت نانوكامپوزيت با درصدهاي حجمي مختلف از نانو ذرات، خواص مكانيكي و فداشونده نانو كامپوزيت‌ها به صورت تابعي از درصد فاز تقويت كننده بررسي شد.

به گفته وي، انجام موفقيت‌آميز اين تحقيق به دستيابي محققان سازمان فضايي ايران به دانش طراحي عايق‌هاي فدا شونده با كارايي بسيار بالا منجر شده است.

In the article he is talking about nanocomposites that what he calls in persian fadashavande....so it seems just nozzles that can withstand higher temps for solid rockets...since there is no true cooling of the nozzle in large solid rocket motors (in liquid rockets it's a true engine and you can use a variety of ways by using the fuel to cool the nozzle)  temperature resistance of the nozzle material is even more important...that is my 2 cents

That's great.
Iran should figure out a way for mass production of high-precision manufacturing and high tech. materials, and find a market for it. I think these developments alone are excellent, but what would really produce a forever evolving and self-improving cycle of R&D without even government funding is if these goods can be competitively marketed en mass, by Iranians.

Maybe they're talking about INJECTION thrust vectoring (TVC) nozzles enabling SOLID fuel missile designs with a much smaller diameter (smaller than jet-vaned TVC even) resulting in greater speed (>mach 5), range (>100 km) and more units (kill ratio) per launch platform (TEL)... in other words, the right prerequisites for a S-400 system.

Soon they can finally do away with those outdated air-vaned SAMs hopefully.
