TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced on Friday that Tehran would soon unveil a new cruise missile called 'Zafar (Triumph).




"We unveiled the Qader cruise missiles in the Week of Sacred Defense and we plan to showcase Zafar which is a new cruise missile in the near future," Vahidi told reporters in the Western city of Hamedan today.

"We also have other plans in area of ballistic missiles which will be unveiled once their production phases are complete," he added.

Iran has made giant progress in arms production, specially in area of missile technology, in the last decade.

Iran's latest cruise missile production, Qader (Mighty), was displayed to the public during the military parades marking the Week of Sacred Defense in September.

Later in September, the Iranian Defense Ministry supplied large numbers of the Qader anti-ship cruise missiles to the Iranian Army's and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) naval forces to boost Iran's naval defense power.

Addressing the ceremony, also attended by Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Commander of the IRGC Naval Force Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, Vahidi said that Iran has managed to mass-produce the missile in the shortest time possible.

He stressed that production of the missiles showed that the Iranian Defense Industries are able to satiate the Iranian Armed Forces' missile needs.

As regards the features and specifications of the new missile, Vahidi said Qader is an anti-ship cruise missile with a range of 200km and enjoys a short launch time and is able to hit all naval vessels, including frigates and warships, as well as onshore enemy targets.

Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.

Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

Ahmad Vahidi defence minister of Iran says "Zafar" cruise missile will be unveiled soon.
He also added we another programmes at the feild of production of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles on agenda that these projects will be finished in near future and will be unveilled.

He stated , at the feild of fighter aircrafts, Azarakhsh and Saeqeh are domestical fighter aircrafts,We have also Improved technical capabilities of our fighter aircrafts.
He added Improvement of most capabilities of our fighter aircrafts is on agenda, in addition to these, design of a series of new fighter aircrafts is on agenda.

In previous report about Zafar missile, Ahmad Vahidi called it as "Fastest" cruise missile.So most likely Zafar missile is a supersonic cruise missile.

In the recent Sacred Defense Week parade? Or was it another one, can you post a picture of it?

It is great news that Iran is thinking of extending the range of it's weapons to cheaply and effectively fight any enemy at longer and longer range . Missiles ( from sub ) and planes ( from shore )  that can hit targets at 1500 km from shore will make use of aircraft carrier impossible .This still allows use of US sub and missile boat and B52 , that can launch Tomahawk from 3000 to 4000 km from Iranian border and shore . Subs firing cruise from 4000 km away can be hunted down by other subs and anti-sub helicopter being supplied from sub . ( plan and equipment needed here ) , ship firing cruise from 4000 km can be hunted with sub with torpaedo and cruise missile ( plan and equipment needed here ) , B52 firing cruise from 4000 km can not be hunted by plane or sub or ship in the air . Also the base B52 fly from can be as far away as US soil ! For this problem some sub can be equipped with ballistic missiles and have ability to travel the oceon . SLBM's can target air base that B52 fly from . Present sub can be adapted to carry Iran's SSM's with 3000 km range . This way they can reach any target in US soil . But this must be kept secret . And so must any attack . No propaganda should be allowed . The important reason is not to panic the US population that attack is against them . Much more discrete than aircraft carrier and more effective . Lets say for now that missiles will have conventional warheads .

I think the name and designations are deliberately made to confuse ! Like everything is Tondar ! Like tondar missile , tondar boat , tondar plane !  This is what Russians did too ! The idea came to me when I was thinking about intercepting the B52 from America carrying the cruise missile . Can sub possibly fire a SAM against the B52 while submerged ? Can a floating radar dish be carried and released (pointing up ) or radar attached like periscope to top of sub and raised like periscope ? Then SAM fired from torpaedo tube and go up . This will mean mainland US will not be hit and is better . B52 fly predictable path across the med sea !

Now another idea came to me ! ( as though by magic ) , If cruise platform is low RCS plane like B2 , then sub can carry optical sensors also . But range of optics is less and will not cover the length of Atlantic . So why not allow for floating IR sensor that are placed at 10 km intervals . This sensors , say ten of them , can cover 100 km of oceon ! A big net to catch a big fish ! Once IR sensor is triggered then send radio signal to sub  .The oscillating motion of water could act as a scanning device also ! This sensor can be picked up later by homing beacon or be fixed to bottom of shallow water with rope . Like a lobster pot or trap ! Take care bro .

I also remember the UAV model that you made and experimented with . It looked like a triangular plane with a pusher device .I have since thought about using small UAV for long range attack against Tanks . I saw under Iranian UAV section that this idea had already been done but with RPG instead . My idea was to allow a slow device attach itself to side of Tank or ship and use a portable thermal lance to bore a hole in it ! ( but that's out side this topic ) . All I can do is to let my ideas be known . I think all Iranians can do this and let the military know . We should not let go of any idea ! And leave no stone unturned ! Once all the advantage is secured then war is less damaging .
