Its not, but wisdom tells you that the environment of theater and cinema (whether in Iran or any other place) historically is not the best environment to send your daughters to! 
Also just because you play the role of hazrat Maryam it doesnt mean that the environment you work in with other actors is healthy and pure.

Im just saying that is the reality of the situation in Iran. To improve you need a new bread/generation of actors that are not  hollywood wannabes, a completely new instution that supports them, with new goals. For example the IRIB is an institution that is supposed to be in accordance to islamic values but they sometimes go astray. This is how corrupted the whole sector is.  For example there is a lot of talk these days about the series "sakhteman pezeshkan" aired by IRIB 3 which propagates so many western values, feminism, inter marriage cheating and even homosexuality!

A Iranian TV series propagating inter-marriage cheating and homosexuality? Please explain specific cases of this series doing that.

If it is a film about a lesbian couple who are miserable because they're not free to pursue the lifestyle they wish, then I can't help but be sympathetic...

Yes. But Iran has chosen a sexually conservative culture for their nation. As such, some people will have to sacrifice certain aspects of fulfillment of their physical/mental desires.

Sometimes you make sacrifices for your nation. And though it may be painful for the immediate generation, the idea is that future generations will benefit from the physical pleasures you have surrendered to promote a culture in which strength, sacrifice, and social cohesion are the highest values.

The United States has a culture that values self-fulfillment in the highest. And they are broke. But, at least many of them get to live like kings on he material pleasures they waste ridiculous amounts of time and money on. However, future generations will suffer for it. Sex, drinking, drugs, shitty (redundant???) adam sandler films, they are personal freedoms in the west. But the shortcoming of the west is that these things should least be heavily regulated because humans have the same biological drives as other mammals and most people do not have the will to overcome these pleasures and concentrate on improving themselves or their community, if they are made available in over-abundance.
